Terms of Service

By using The Yard's website, submitting an application, or using the workspace, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

The workspace

• Workspace access is metered — you pay for time used via M-Pesa
• Wallet balances are non-refundable except in the event of a system error
• The Yard reserves the right to remove any member who disrupts the community
• GPU compute and token credits are consumed on use — unused balances carry over but do not expire for 12 months
• The Yard is open 24 hours but reserves the right to close for maintenance with 24 hours notice

The fellowship

• Fellowship applications are free for Cohort 1
• Submitting an application does not guarantee selection
• Selected fellows sign a 12-month employment contract with The Yard
• Fellows must pass the CCA-F exam to advance to Phase 2 — failure after one resit results in exit from the programme
• Stipends are paid monthly via M-Pesa on the 1st of each month
• The Yard reserves the right to terminate a fellowship for misconduct, dishonesty, or sustained underperformance
• All work produced during the fellowship remains the intellectual property of the fellow and their host organisation unless otherwise agreed in writing

Data and privacy

Your use of this site is subject to our Privacy Policy. By submitting a form, you consent to us contacting you about The Yard and the fellowship programme.

Intellectual property

The Yard name, logo, and site content are the property of The Yard AI Foundry. The Yard curriculum will be open-sourced after Cohort 1 under a Creative Commons licence.

Limitation of liability

The Yard is not liable for loss of data, loss of business, or any indirect damages arising from use of the workspace or the platform. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 30 days prior to any claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Nairobi County.
